Be honest about that meter row: we meter too. The difference is the shape — ours is a flat add-on with a request allowance and optional top-ups; theirs is a credit balance that is the product's main currency.
Where Sudowrite wins
The AI is better, and it is the point. Story Bible, Muse, the long-form generation, the developmental and line-edit passes on higher plans — that is years of work aimed squarely at AI-assisted fiction. Our partner continues a passage, rewrites a selection, brainstorms against your story and proofreads. It is useful. It is not as deep.
More generation for the money, if you use a lot of it. If you are generating heavily, 225,000 credits at $10 is better value than our 70 requests at $4.95 plus top-ups. Do that arithmetic honestly before you switch.
Where we win
It is a studio, not an AI tool. Chapters, scenes, front matter, a corkboard, a Story Map, margin notes, focus mode, screenplay format with revision locking, and export to four formats. Sudowrite is an AI writing environment; if you want the organising apparatus of a novel around it, that is what we are.
Screenplays. Sudowrite does not do them. We do prose and script in the same project, with correct formatting and real pagination for each.
You can turn the AI off and still have the product. Ours is an optional $4.95 add-on. If you decide mid-draft that you want no AI anywhere near the book, you still have everything else, and your bill goes down. Turn the AI off in Sudowrite and there is not much left.
Writing with other people. Co-Writer hands the pen between two writers; Writing Groups share a project with notes and a group chat.
